Women's Leadership Initiative Council
The mission of the WLI is expressed in its four primary objectives:
- Promote the advancement of women, throughout their careers, as leaders in the real estate industry.
- Increase the number of women who serve in leadership positions in the real estate industry and in ULI.
- Increase the visibility of women leaders in the real estate industry and in ULI.
- Increase the number of women who are active ULI Full members, and support the development of young women members as leaders in ULI and in their professions.
Policy Committee
The Policy Committee works closely with the Director of Policy to guide the District Council on how ULI Boston can impact public policy to encourage smart growth development, with a focus on housing attainability and building decarbonization. Additionally, the group focuses on influencing regional transportation planning to meet current needs and support the future economic growth of Greater Boston.
Program Oversight Committee
The Program Oversight Committee (POC) functions as a clearinghouse for local programming with a dual goal of 1) creating programming content that is original, relevant and engaging for our membership and 2) where appropriate, helping Local Product Councils (LPCs) create programs that are more targeted, more in depth and specific to a more nuanced area of land use. This committee participates in all levels of event planning and execution.
Real Estate Advisory Committee
The Real Estate Advisory Committee provides perspective, guidance and recommendations for local communities which are working to optimize their land use through Technical Assistance Panels (TAPs). TAPs are made up of ULI members including developers, architects, engineers, and other land use and real estate professionals. These groups, uniquely composed for each TAP, provide a tremendous opportunity for the communities and volunteers, who get exposed to situations and peer professionals who they would not likely meet otherwise. The TAPs offer a manageable commitment for the members, who are expected to contribute a few hours of preparation and one full workday.
Resiliency Committee
The Climate Resiliency Committee is a working group for ULI members to take on projects and contribute to the field of climate resiliency. Its mission is to educate and motivate the Greater Boston-area real estate community (both private and public sector) on climate change and sea level rise with the ultimate goal to continue to impact policy in order to build more resilient communities.
Young Leaders Group
Established in 2003, the Young Leaders Group brings together ULI members under 35 in a variety of programs, conferences, mentorship opportunities throughout the year. YLG fosters a unique setting for tomorrow’s real estate and land use leaders to engage and build networks, both professionally and socially, with more established professionals, while sharing best practices and developing thematic programming, events, technology, tools, and exchanges. Committee members plan and execute local programming and committee vacancies vary by District and National Council.

Volunteer for a TAP
Charged with moving specific projects forward, a group of ULI real estate professionals bring their expertise into local communities through a one-day, low-cost consultation service. TAPs are organized for qualifying non-profits and local governments that may not have the resources to find solutions to development roadblocks.
During this one-day program, a panel of six to twelve ULI members provide local stakeholders with the information and tools needed to move projects from the backburner to full steam ahead. Master plans, placemaking, achieving a broader tax base, market feasibility, and financial structuring are just a few examples of how a TAP can help a community tackle land use issues.
Panel member expertise includes developers and owners, investors, designers, engineers, and executives from some of Boston’s largest banks and commercial real estate firms.
UrbanPlan Volunteer
UrbanPlan is a ULI program that provides an engaging, interactive case study in real estate development challenges and trade-offs. The program may be offered to various audiences including public officials, neighborhood leaders, and university or high school classes. ULI trained volunteers are needed as mentors and facilitators.
- make an impact in the community and on the next generation of citizens
- enjoy professional development and knowledge sharing
- network with peers across the real estate and land use industries
