QUESTIONS
How many years have you been in the industry?
Starting my role as Senior Associate with the Urban Land Institute in 2021 was my first exposure to the Commercial Real Estate industry! During my time as an undergraduate student, I spent a summer working in Atlanta’s Regional Commission office, presenting my first exposure to planning and community development.
What motivates you?
Education! Having gained exposure to a lot of practical knowledge from networking and spending time with ULI members, I’ve come to understand that Real Estate is an informational field as much as it is relational. Given that, my motivation has turned towards educating youth to encourage them to join or pursue Built Environment programs and opportunities.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone entering CRE?
Once you learn and understand your passion in this space, find others who are like-minded to collaborate with; but also engage with those who have different ideals to keep you grounded and practical.
What’s your favorite thing about real estate?
The opportunity it presents for wealth generation, but also placemaking and creating a ‘here’ for everyone a project touches.
What’s your biggest career accomplishment?
Currently, receiving acceptance into Harvard’s Master’s in Landscape Architecture I program, which will allow me to re-join the real estate field as a trained professional!
Why do you find ULI valuable?
Networking, knowledge sharing, tours and socials are all of my favorite ULI activities!
What are you reading, watching, or listening to now?
My current book is 250 Things a Landscape Architect Should Know, edited by Cannon Ivers. It’s a compendium of responses from 50 landscape architects from across the globe, about what knowledge is indispensable in the field.
What are you looking forward to?
Getting my desk in the Tray at (Harvard University’s) Gund Hall!
