The Master Class is geared towards Young Leaders who have spent most of their career working in one area of the real estate development industry and are seeking to gain exposure in other areas from some of the leading professionals in the Boston area.

The Master Class is a five-course curriculum, but registration for each session is separate. Those who attend all 5 courses will receive a certificate of completion.

Session 1: Market Analysis and Site Selection: April 30th
Session 2: Public Outreach: May 16th
Session 3: Environmental Permitting: TBD
Session 4: Construction: TBD
Session 5: Marketing & Leasing: TBD

This year’s second Master Class will focus on Public Outreach. Pamela McDermott of McDermott Ventures and Karin Brandt of coUrbanize will focus on how they have engaged stakeholders for real estate development projects in Boston, Cambridge, the suburbs and Washington, DC.

Karin Brandt, Founder and CEO, coUrbanize

coUrbanize is a digital platform that modernizes community outreach for real estate developers and municipalities. An urban planner by training, Karin created coUrbanize in 2013 to enable more effective community engagement throughout the planning and development process. City planners and real estate developers across the United States and Canada have used coUrbanize on over 300 projects to reach more community members, overcome NIMBYism, and build better projects faster.

Karin holds a master’s degree in city planning from MIT and began her career in urban development at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, where she co-edited Infrastructure and Land Policies. In 2018, she was selected as one of Real Estate Forum’s 50 Under 40 in Commercial Real Estate.

 

Pamela G. McDermott, Founder and CEO, McDermott Ventures
