Join the ULI NEXT Council for a tour of New Bedford's Central Waterfront and Downtown. This day-long program will explore the public and private investments that are transforming the largest city in the South Coast region. A city boasting rich history, the country's most successful fishing port, and a new commuter rail stop, New Bedford is a city on the move!

Our day will begin at 56 N Water Street, from there, we will traverse Water Street to Union Street and then view State Pier located at the heart of New Bedford's central waterfront. At State Pier, Tim Love of Utile will discuss the new planning efforts and development opportunities and the connection between the waterfront and downtown.

From there, we will visit the Whaling Museum to learn about public investment at the state and city level with Derek Santos of the New Bedford Economic Development Committee and Adelsa Mendes, TDI Fellow for MassDevelopment.

Attendees will enjoy a networking lunch sponsored by BLDUP followed by a visit to three recent development projects:

    • 10@8th with Duane Jackson of Alinea Capital Partners and Fernando Domenech of DHK Architects
    • One Custom House Square with Eliza Datta of E3 and Steve Beauregard of New Bedford Development Corporation
    • 193-197 Union Street with Lauren Jezienicki of One Circle Co

End the day with a networking happy hour at the Black Whale sponsored by D.F. Pray.
