    Join ULI Boston as we continue our Re-Entry post Covid-19 webinar series on Thursday, June 11th. Part three of this series will focus on the metro-Boston construction industry and getting back to work.

    With new rules, prices, and guidelines in place, the panel will provide an overview of what things look like post-COVID. Speakers will discuss how they are managing crews, handling projects deemed essential and what is needed to get construction back underway.

    President, Callahan Construction Managers

    As President, Patrick Callahan’s corporate responsibilities include strategic planning, oversight of all financial and administrative operations, and management of the company’s leadership team. Patrick works directly with clients, carrying forward his family’s commitment to excellent client service, from preconstruction to project completion – and beyond. Patrick began working in the family business in 1988 and over the years has gained leadership experience in all areas of management, including finance, legal, planning, personnel, and business development. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Plymouth State College and is a board member of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Massachusetts.

    Joseph Piro

    Vice President, Corporate Director of Supply Chain Management , Gilbane Development Company

    As Gilbane’s Vice President and Corporate Director of Supply Chain Management, Joe is responsible for overseeing the company’s global supply chain, logistics and spend management programs. As a subject matter expert with extensive knowledge of the processes involved with the flow of goods and services to maximize customer value, he provides exceptional strategic planning, operational alignment and Lean Process engineering skills. Joe is accomplished in the ground-up design and implementation of end-to-end supply chain and global logistics operations in the wholesale distribution, manufacturing, retail and construction management industries.

    Principal, Elkus Manfredi Architects

    As a founding principal of Elkus Manfredi Architects, David Manfredi has been privileged to work with a variety of industry leaders from across the country on all types of building and planning projects. He is nationally recognized for his master planning, urban design, and placemaking work. Under David’s guidance, Elkus Manfredi led the planning process and building design of The Americana at Brand, a 16-acre mixed-use project incorporating retail, restaurants, cinema, residences, public space, and parking in Glendale, California; The Grove in Los Angeles, a 600,000-square-foot premier shopping environment adjacent to the famed Farmer’s Market and CBS Studios; historic renovation, adaptive reuse, and new construction to create One Franklin Street, an integrated high-rise building with above- and below-grade retail, hotel, residential, office, and parking; South Campus Gateway at The Ohio State University — an 887,000-square-foot, five-building mixed-use urban environment that provides a common ground between the University and the surrounding neighborhood; University Square at the University of Pennsylvania a 305,000-square-foot mixed-use development including hotel and retail; the 300,000-square-foot retail, dining, and entertainment zone known as Downtown Disney in Anaheim, California; Westwood Station redevelopment, a new five million-square-foot mixed-use neighborhood featuring lifestyle retail with residences above, several distinct residential neighborhoods, office buildings, hotels, and recreational uses; and Belmar, a mixed-use downtown incorporating retail, office, and residential components, and parking in Lakewood, Colorado. Throughout his career, David has worked with a diverse range of clients — visionaries and leaders in their field — including Boston Properties, The Eli and Edythe L. Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, Caruso Affiliated, The Druker Company, Forest City Commercial Group, Gale International, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, Radius Group, Samuels & Associates, and Vornado Realty Trust, and Walt Disney Imagineering. A graduate of the University of Chicago and the University of Notre Dame, David Manfredi has practiced architecture since 1979. Prior to co-founding Elkus Manfredi Architects, he was a vice president at The Architects Collaborative in Cambridge.
