ULI Boston: July Member Lunch – Kyle Corkum, LStar Ventures, Union Point
Join us for a member lunch with Kyle Corkum of LStar Ventures to discuss Union Point.
Over the past 30 years, Kyle has been responsible for the acquisition of nearly 80,000 housing units. In 2007, Kyle formed LStar Ventures that specializes in the acquisition and management of developable assets. Since its formation, LStar has partnered with affiliates to acquire more than 35,000 residential units in 15 states and over 15 million square feet of commercial. Kyle also co-founded The Flying Fish Project, a charitable organization that supports children in need and the disadvantaged.
Kyle, who grew up in Attleboro, has returned to the Boston area to bring true economic transformation to South Shore communities and the region as a whole by remaking the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station. Kyle and his team have worked diligently with state and local officials to remove the hurdles that have plagued the development of this 1,500 acre expanse of land for nearly two decades, resulting in major infrastructure improvements and an innovative approach to zoning that ensures site plan approval within 90 days.
Upon completion, Union Point will comprise nearly 4,000 homes and apartments and 10 million square feet of commercial development space perfectly balanced with more than 1,000 acres of green space and 50 miles of hiking/biking trails. It stands to become the paradigm of smart, tech-advanced cities and provide significant benefits for the surrounding area through commercial growth, high-quality job opportunities, and community development.
